4.3 Installing The PC Card Fax/Modem

The following instructions explain how to install the fax/modem into a PC computer. If you will be

installing the fax/modem into a different computer, refer to the manual that came with your

computer or contact your computer dealer for instructions.

1. Turn off the computer. No power must be applied to your

computer when you install the internal fax/modem, or the

computer could b

e damaged.

2. Make sure you can freely access the back of the personal

computer. Remove the computer cover.

3. Select any available PCI slot into which you can

install the internal fax/modem.

4. Unscrew and remove the slot c

over.

5. Hold the internal fax/modem above the slot you have selected, and carefully slide

the fax/modem into the slot, applying even pressure to both ends of the fax/modem.

Stop inserting the fax/modem when its gold-plated edge connector is aligned and fully

seated into the base of the computer.

6. Connect the sound card cable with JP1 and the sound card.(Optional)

7. Connect the wake up ring cable with JP2 and the mother board.(Optional)

8. Use the screw that was holding the slot cover to secure the

fax/modem in the slot.

9. Use the cover-mounting screws to secure the computer

cover. This completes the hardware installation of your

fax/modem.
